Welcome to Qua Iboe Missionary Church

INTRODUCTION
At Qua Iboe Missionary Church, we trace our origins back to the Qua Iboe Mission, established by Reverend Samuel Alexander Bill (1864 - 1942), an Irish missionary who arrived in Africa, particularly Nigeria, in 1887. Our foundation lies in preaching the Gospel of God's grace through the completed work of Jesus Christ, encompassing his death, burial, and resurrection. Rev. Samuel Alexander Bill's journey began at Aqua Obio village in the Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, where he landed on December 1, 1887. His missionary efforts extended from Ibeno land to various regions including Ibibio heartland, Annang area, Ibo country, and even to Igalla and Bassa in present-day Kogi State, Nigeria. The mission expanded to Burkina Faso's Lobi land in 1931.

OUR HISTORY
In 1996, the church was officially registered as Qua Iboe Church under registration number 498 with the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Later, in 2011, the church's name was changed to United Evangelical Church (although this change is currently under legal scrutiny), while maintaining the registration number 498 of Qua Iboe Church. Unfortunately, with the 2011 name change, many aspects associated with Samuel Bill seemed to disappear. Samuel Bill, the pioneer, passed away in 1942 and was laid to rest in Upenekang, Ibeno. His wife, a dear companion in the mission, was also interred in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom State.

RENEWED MISSION
In 2022, individuals who shared the original Qua Iboe Mission doctrine united and successfully registered the Qua Iboe Missionary Church with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria. This registration aimed to continue the missionary vision of Samuel Alexander Bill in alignment with the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. In April 2023, the church obtained the SCUML Certificate from the EFCC, marking another milestone in its journey.
